After 50 years Strathcona High School is undergoing a 13.7 million dollar renovation.
Business as Usual at Strathcona
Wow, it’s hard to believe that we made it through the first semester no disruption to classes and learning. Equally impressive is the amount of work that has been accomplished since the renovations started in July 2009. The construction phase of the renovation is on schedule and our General Contractor is doing a great job!
Some of the construction high-lights are;
- New classrooms including new lights and flooring.
- Brand new Biology and Physics labs with new lighting, flooring, , sinks, counter tops, and cabinets.
- New 8 foot screens installed in the new classrooms.
- New Band Room with office, practice room, and storage. New acoustical wall and ceiling panels to be installed.
- New Art Room with office and studio space, oversized storage area, new sinks and cabinets.
- New Design Studies Room with over sized projection screen, lighting, and large storage area.
- New radiant panels for heating have been installed in above rooms.
We are now expecting turnover of our enlarged student services, science workroom, language lab and language classroom with new office. Technology improvement remains a high priority at Strathcona with FM systems installed in rooms, SmartBoard Technology, and enhanced lighting and digital projection capabilities.
The next phase of construction will be to renovate the remaining language and science classrooms on the main floor.
Please check Strathcona's web site periodically as changes and up-dates will be posted. Please contact Hans Van Ginhoven at (780) 439-3957 for any inquiries regarding the renovations.
