Strathcona High School’s Social Studies department aims to develop critical thinkers who can look at the world with a multi-dimensional perspective. Through studies in Canadian history, students consider Canada from Francophone and Aboriginal perspectives so as to be able to make sense of world events and political economies. AP courses branch into European history and specialized courses in General Psychology, World Religion and Micro and Macro Economics help students prepare for post-secondary studies in the social sciences.
