Fine Arts

Culture is more than that stuff growing in the corner of your gym locker. At Strathcona High School, the sound of music, the thrill of leaping across the stage, the quiet scratching of charcoal on canvas helps bring our school to life. What’s the point in learning about how the world works if you can’t express it?

More creativity than you can shake a paint brush at...

Fine Arts at Strathcona take the form of Art and Applied Graphic Arts, Drama and Performing Arts, as well as a wide range of music courses ranging from Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Guitar to Chamber Ensemble and Jazz Choir. Over the years we’ve come to understand that the only thing our students need to thrive in the arts is a blank canvas and a few sparks of confidence from our supportive teachers. Whether its photography, illustration, musical theatre or technical theatre design, we’ve learned to step back and admire the view as our students consistently raise the bar with jaw-dropping performances.
